CONTACT study

Clinical study of the experiences of patients, parents and healthcare providers with the conversations in which the diagnosis and treatment is explained during the diagnosis trajectory.
Who can enter
  • Either be a child (0-18 years) or a parent of the child who has his or her first diagnosis within the hemato-oncology department.
  • Or be a healthcare provider working in the hemato-oncology department and being involved in the diagnosis trajectory.

Goal

The goal of this study is to understand conversations during the diagnosis trajectory and to evaluate patient, parent and healthcare provider experiences with the conversations during the diagnosis trajectory.

Background

During their first visit to the Princess Máxima Center, parents and children have to deal with a lot of information. By doing this study we want to get a better insight into the experiences of children, parents/guardians and healthcare providers during the diagnostic trajectory. We would like to study this by audio-recording conversations, interviews and questionnaires. This will give us a better idea of what is experienced as pleasant or unpleasant during this phase, and help us find starting points for further improvement of communication during the diagnosis trajectory.

In order to participate in a study please refer to your/your child’s doctor.
