Science evening: Pushing and protecting boundaries - Ethics in research

Event date: 27-05-2024
On Monday 27 May, we are organizing a science evening about ethics in research. To improve the treatment of children with cancer, the Princess Máxima Center carries out scientific research. How do we determine in the Máxima Center which research can be done? And what interests are involved?

Four experts will discuss the ethical side of the research in the Máxima Center. About the committee that decides which studies are approved to start. About the considerations when using tissue from children with cancer for research, such as growing 3D mini-organs in the lab. And also: at what point can you and would you want to give a new treatment to a child, for example as part of a clinical study?

There will be ample opportunity for questions and discussion at the science evening.

This evening is primarily aimed at parents, children, survivors and the general public. You can register via the event website.
