American St. Baldrick’s Innovation Award for Anne Rios

Anne Rios has been awarded the St. Baldrick’s Innovation Award on the annual SIOP meeting in Lyon, France. ‘I am very honored to receive this internationally renowned award’, says Rios.

The award provided by the St. Baldrick’s Foundation reflects the values of dr. Robert J. Arceci, which include thinking outside the box, risk taking, true innovation and collaboration. Values that Rios shares, which is apparent from her research.

‘During my career, I made the choice to broaden my scientific expertise by often changing fields and research subjects with a common component: imaging’, she writes in her application. The bold decisions Rios made during her career, gave her the opportunity to achieve technical innovation, develop a three-dimensional imaging protocol and apply it to drive unexpected scientific discoveries.

Rios is junior Principal Investigator and head of the Microscopy and Imaging Center in the Princess Máxima Center. Here she applies her scientific and technological expertise for the benefit of children with cancer.
