First international scientific retreat in our brand new hospital

July 12th and 13th 2018, the Princess Máxima Center for Pediatric Oncology hosted its first international event.

International members of the Innovative Therapies for Children with Cancer (ITCC) consortium joined the 3rd ITCC biology retreat, chaired by Prof. Stefan Pfister, Heidelberg, Germany, and member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Princess Máxima Center. This year’s topic dealt with immune therapy and the tumor microenvironment. Guest speakers and ITCC members from Europe discussed the state of the art and challenges in this relative young field of cancer research. New ideas were exchanged and international collaborative studies were initiated.

The local organizers Prof. Monique den Boer and Dr. Jan Molenaar are very enthusiastic about the interactive and open-minded spirit of this meeting. To follow up on this successful event, next retreats have already been planned. These will take place in Paris (November 2018) and London (July 2019).
