Oncode awards eight fellowships to female investigators

Eight young, talented women, who do preclinical research into cancer, will be awarded a fellowship by Oncode. With these awards, Oncode aims to both support fundamental cancer research and contribute to gender equality in science.

Oncode is a virtual institute, in which almost 600 scientist are united. The research groups of Hans Clevers, Jan Hoeijmakers and Monique den Boer, from the Princess Máxima Center, are closely connected to the institute. With excellent research, intensive collaboration and powerful valorization, Oncode strives to outsmart cancer.

To outsmart cancer, talented scientists are needed. Therefore, Oncode awards €150.000 per year in the initial phase (until 2022) to eight researchers. The money will help junior investigators to expand their young research groups.

Oncode specifically attracts women with the programme. In science there are remarkably more men than women. Oncode prefers more gender equality and hopes to contribute with these awards.
