Watch Us Move: Study of physical activity using a smartwatch in children with cancer

Physical activity is beneficial for all children, and also for children with cancer. We do not know how physically active children with cancer are. To get insight in how physically active children with cancer are during treatment, we will perform this study.

The goal of this study is to establish feasibility of wearing a smartwatch by children with cancer during treatment for cancer. Moreover, we want to examine whether physiotherapists can get insight in and use data gathered with the smartwatch for the most effective treatment.

This information can be used to inform children with cancer and their parents about physical activity in the future. In this way, we want to prevent that children with cancer are less physically active than they maybe can be and as a consequence potentially experience disadvantageous effects.

We will ask children with cancer to wear a smartwatch, that can measure physical activity, for three months. During these three months, we will ask whether the child likes to wear the smartwatch and whether there are any problems while wearing the smartwatch.
