In the Princess Máxima Center, I study the age-dependent differences in pharmacokinetics in children with cancer.

As a pharmacist I am interested in optimising the dosage of pharmaceuticals, so that every child receives the best treatment. The PINOCCHIO-study investigates the differences in pharmacokinetics between adults and children of all ages, to determine if the therapy needs to be adjusted. By measuring the drug-levels in blood samples we can determine the influence of age on the pharmacokinetics of these cytotoxic agents. Nine commonly used cytotoxic agents will be examined: carboplatin, cisplatin, cytarabine, dactinomycin, daunorubicin, doxorubicin, etoposide, methotrexate and vincristine.

I am supervised by prof. dr. C.M. Zwaan, prof. dr. A.D.R. Huitema and dr. A. Lalmohamed.
