Through the years, I developed a special interest in pediatric psycho-oncology research with a close link to clinical practice. I therefore find it important to conduct research that can be transformed into something useful for children with cancer and their families. My dissertation sought to (1) develop reliable and valid patient-reported outcome (PROs) measures for children with cancer and their families and (2) assess factors that influence the real-world implementation of an online patient-clinician PRO communication tool (KLIK; www.hetklikt.nu). As a Postdoctoral Fellow at St. Jude, Memphis, Tenessee, I deepened my understanding of the mechanisms driving the longitudinal coping and adjustment of children with cancer and their families and I contributed to a problem-solving skills training (Bright IDEAS) for parents and patients with newly diagnosed cancer. Next to this, I broadened my research skills by learning to apply state-of-the-art research methods, such as latent profile analysis, longitudinal growth modeling, and analyzing daily diary data. I look forward to further develop this research line at the Princess Máxima Center!
