Unraveling the immune landscape in pediatric acute myeloid leukemia to guide immunotherapeutic interventions

My research focuses on identifying the different immune compositions in pediatric AML in a spatial and temporal manner, and how this composition is affected by bone marrow-resident cells, treatment and disease progression. Next, we will investigate how this information about the immune system can predict immunotherapy efficacy in ex vivo models.
In 2021 I joined the Princes Máxima Centre as a PhD-candidate. I am trained as a medical doctor (MD) at Maastricht University and with this PhD-trajectory, I strive to acquire a broad foundation in pre-clinical research that allows me to contribute to both patient care and research from a clinical and pre-clinical perspective.
