Marnix van Soest

PhD student
Collaboration with Prof. Dr. D. Salvatori (Veterinary Faculty Utrecht).

I am a dedicated PhD candidate focused on the safety of stem cell-based therapies. My primary interest lies in understanding the potential risks associated with these therapies, particularly the formation of cancer. My research is centered on yolk sac tumors, a type of cancer found to arise spontaneously in (pediatric) patients but can also develop from stem cells. By investigating the mechanisms behind these tumors, I aim to enhance the safety and efficacy of stem cell treatments, ultimately contributing to better therapeutic outcomes for patients. This research will benefit both patients receiving stem cell-based therapies and those suffering from spontaneous yolk sac tumors.
