In Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma, the blood-brain barrier seems to be a major obstacle preventing delivery of chemotherapeutic agents to the site of the tumor. Convection-enhanced delivery (CED) and high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) are two techniques that have been developed which may assist the delivery of chemotherapeutic agents across the blood-brain barrier. However, it is unclear which chemotherapeutic agents are most suitable in combination with these techniques. This project will focus on determining which potential chemotherapeutic agents are most suitable for either systemic administration, to use in combination with the CED technique, or to use in combination with the HIFU technique.
